Map/Terrain

Name: UBC Okanagan
Location: See embedded Google map below.
Map Standard: ISSprOM 2020
Mapper: David Bakker. Originally created in 2017-2018 with updates and map expansion in 2019. Minor updates and conversion to new sprint standard in 2020.
Terrain Description: Campus terrain with portions of thinned ponderosa pine forest.
Shoe Recommendation: Light trail runners or racing flats. No metal spiked or metal studded shoes allowed.
Old Map: Available here.

Courses/Classes

Three different courses are offered: Elite, Expert, and Beginner/Intermediate. Team Trials athletes must register in their appropriate class, while the public has the choice of any class (there are no age classes at this event). Explanations of what the course number/color means can be obtained by clicking on the table header links.

Trialling Athlete Classes
Class Course Canadian Course Number American Course Color
Canada – M21E Expert Sprint 6 Blue
USA – M21E Expert Sprint 6 Blue
Canada – F21E Advanced Sprint 5 Red
USA – F21E Advanced Sprint 5 Red
Canadian and US team trials compete together (more competition is good right?!)
The top three from each semi-final heat make it into the A-final. These athletes will ultimately get the top 6 placings (assuming none mis-punch).
The rest of the semi-finalists run in a B-final to rank those athletes with placings 7-12.
Everyone that doesn’t make a semi final runs together in a C-final heat to determine the rest of the placings.
Anyone that mispunches in any of the qualifying rounds does not get to run in a final.
Public Participant Classes
Class Course Canadian Course Number American Course Color
Public – Expert Expert Sprint 6 Blue
Public – Beginner to Advanced Advanced Sprint 5 Red

Note: No beginner course is on offer today because of the short winning times and distances of the round-robin sprint. The urban nature of the terrain means that the advanced course is suitable even for beginners.
